Neena Merola enters her first season as an assistant coach for the Cortland women's lacrosse team in 2018-19. Merola also is the coach of the Gait Lacrosse Club team, which won its first championship in the summer of 2018.
Merola was named a two time All-American for lacrosse in high school at Painted Post before beginning her collegiate lacrosse career as a midfielder at Syracuse University. As a freshman, Merola was a member of the 2015 ACC Championship team. During her senior campaign, she led the team with a career-high 52 draw controls. In all, Merola recorded 41 goals, 10 assists and 51 points during her collegiate career. After graduation, Merola became a member of the Long Island Sound, a professional women's lacrosse team.
The Corning, N.Y., native has been associated with lacrosse in the Upstate New York area since 2014, when she began coaching Syracuse lacrosse camps. In the summer of 2018, Merola began working as a fitness coach at Journey 333.
