John Taft joined the Cortland women’s tennis coaching staff in the fall of 2012 as an assistant coach after serving as a volunteer assistant this past spring.
Taft, who is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in physical education at Cortland, graduated from SUNY Oneonta in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in studio art. A four-year member of the Red Dragon tennis team, Taft compiled an overall career record of 60-20. He earned first team All-North Atlantic Conference honors in singles and doubles following the 2010 season and was named to the SUNYAC All-Academic Team in 2011.
A native of Queensbury, N.Y., Taft is a 2007 graduate of Glens Falls High School, where he competed in football, basketball and tennis. Having trained at Saddlebrook Tennis Academy in Wesley Chapel, Fla., Taft played number-one singles for three seasons and earned first team all-conference honors four times at Glens Falls.
