Anthony Miraglia begins his second season as an assistant coach for the Cortland wrestling team in 2024-25 after joining the staff prior to the 2023-24 season.
Miraglia has significant coaching experience working as a volunteer wrestling clinician for Bulletproof Combat since 2024, and as a coach for Bohn MMA and with the Mongoose Elite Wrestling Club since 2022. He also coached for the Valle Boxing Club from 2021 to 2023, and currently is a substitute teacher in the Homer Central School District.
Miraglia began coaching after a stellar collegiate wrestling career at Alfred State from 2017 to 2023. He was an AMCC Individual Champion, and captained Alfred State to a team title in 2022-23. A four-year team captain, Miraglia was honored with the Unsung Hero Award in 2023, and was named to the Alfred State Athletic Department Athlete of the Year team in 2020-21. He was also nominated for the SUNY Chancellor's Student Excellence Award two times in 2022 and 2023, and was a nominee for the Athletic Director and Pioneer Legacy Award in 2023. In the classroom, Miraglia was honored as a NWCA Scholar All-American in back-to-back years in 2021-22 and 2022-23.
Miraglia graduated from Alfred State with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology in 2022. He also earned an associate's degree in Sport Management, and was named the Most Outstanding Student in 2022-23. Miraglia was a 2021 graduate of the SUNY Sail Student Leadership Academy, as well as the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) in 2022.
A native of Byron, NY, Miraglia was a three-sport athlete in wrestling, football, and cross country at Byron-Bergen. He graduated in 2017, having surpassed 100 career wins in wrestling, was a Section V sectional champion in 2016, and two-time state qualifier and place in 2015 and 2016. He was also named to the New York State National Freestyle Wrestling Team, and as an alternate for the New York State National Greco Wrestling Team in 2016.
