Beth Tomlinson begins her second season as a Cortland assistant coach in the fall of 2025. She graduated in 2009 from SUNY New Paltz with a bachelor's degree in visual arts and she earned a master's degree in exercise science and health promotion from Florida Atlantic University in 2012.
Tomlinson is a 2005 Cortland Jr./Sr. high school graduate. She competed in basketball and soccer, and she earned Rotary Youth Leadership Award honors. Since she was 16 she was teaching swim lessons at the YMCA, coaching everyone from summer leaguers to varsity athletes. She also championed adaptive swimming programs and soaked up open-water wisdom from icons like Terry Laughlin and Dave Barra. She's been the Ithaca Site Lead Coach for the Syracuse Chargers Swim Club since 2023.
Tomlinson earned ASCA Level 4 in addition to USA Swimming Head Coach certification. She's also certified as a lifeguard and for CPR.
When she’s not on deck or working in IT at Cornell University, you’ll find her exploring national parks, hiking with her dog, or lifting heavy in the weight room.
