SUNY Cortland Athletics

Dan Menges joined the coaching staff of the Cortland men's hockey team as an assistant coach prior to the 2026-27 season. 

Menges joined Cortland after most recently serving as an assistant coach at Gilmour Academy in Ohio. Menges worked with the Boys Prep and 16U teams, helping the Boys Prep team win their first Midwest Prep Hockey League (MPHL) title in school history in 2024. During his time at Gilmour, he also served as a scout for the Lone Star Brahmas junior hockey program in the North American Hockey League.

Menges currently works in the summer as a skills coach for Ohio Hockey Project in Cleveland. He has worked previously as a skills coach for IceWorks USA under former U.S. Olympian Bobby Butler and Chicago Blackhawks Skills & Skating Coach Kevin Delaney, and the Middlesex Black Bears under Tim Recio.

A native of Novelty, Ohio, Menges spent his high school career at Gilmour, and set the record for most games played in a career. He has played junior hockey for the Rockland Nationals in the Central Canadian Hockey League and at the NCAA Division III level for Aurora University. Menges earned his bachelor's degree in English from the Ohio State University in 2025.
