Kyle Liang, MS, ATC, joined the SUNY Cortland Athletic Training staff in August 2019. He works with the women's soccer and men's ice hockey teams, and he is an instructor in kinesiology courses and is a preceptor for the graduate athletic training program.
Prior to Cortland, Liang served as an athletic trainer at SUNY Cobleskill from 2013-19, including being the head athletic trainer from 2017-19. He also was a full-time certified athletic trainer for the Milford Academy preparatory football team in the fall of 2012 and a part-time certified athletic trainer for the Slocum Dickson Sports Medicine Group in Utica from 2010-13.
Liang graduated from Cortland in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in athletic training, and he earned a master's degree in health and human performance from Canisius College in 2012, While at Canisius he had an internship in the school's strength and conditioning program. Liang is currently competing doctoral work in teaching, learning and education leadership at Binghamton University.
Liang is a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer and is licensed in New York State. He's a member of the National Athletic Training Association (NATA) and is BLS/Professional Rescuer First Aid/CPR certified through the American Red Cross/American Heart Association. He was named the SUNY Cortland athletic training program Preceptor of the Month in September 2024 and in March/April 2025.
A 2005 graduate of Notre Dame Jr./Sr. High School in Utica, Liang served as a Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) platoon commander during his senior year. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America Troop 115 in December 2004.
