Lainie Ornstein joins the Cortland softball coaching staff in the 2025-26 school year after a four-year playing career with the Red Dragons from 2022-25.
Ornstein played in 151 games, 149 as a starter, as an outfielder and catcher. She was a career .347 hitter with 144 hits and she ranks third in program history with 52 career steals and tied for ninth with 133 runs scored. As a senior she was named to the All-SUNYAC first team and was the SUNYAC Tournament Most Valuable Player while helping Cortland win the league title, and she received the team's Red Letter Award. Ornstein was a two-time selection to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team.
The Yorktown Heights native graduated from Yorktown High School in 2021.
