Mackenna Brown joined s the coaching staff of the SUNY Cortland women's lacrosse team as an assistant coach beginning in the 2026-27 school year.
Brown came to Cortland after a standout collegiate playing career as a defender at Division II Lock Haven University, where she was a two-time All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West selection, and was twice chosen as a PSAC Scholar Athlete.
She played in 66 games with 63 starts over four seasons from 2023-26, contributing 126 ground balls, 99 caused turnovers, and 40 draw controls, while also adding 24 points on 12 goals and 12 assists. Brown also ranks second in program history in caused turnovers for her career.
As a sophomore in 2024, Brown was a first team All-PSAC West honoree after leading the Bald Eagles with 44 ground balls and 33 caused turnovers. She recorded 35 ground balls and 28 caused turnovers on the way to a second team All-PSAC West selection in 2025, and had a team-best 31 caused turnovers during the 2026 season.
Brown graduated from Lock Haven in May of 2026 with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice.
A native of Churchville, NY, Brown was a 2022 graduate of the Aquinas Institute. She was a two-year team captain on the lacrosse team, accumulated over 120 career points as a midfielder, and earned multiple All-Greater Rochester honors. Also a member of the soccer team, Brown was named the Aquinas Girls Student-Athlete of the Year in 2022.
Since graduating high school, Brown has served as a club coach for the FCA Lacrosse Upstate program for the last five seasons, and also conducts defensive instructional sessions in the Rochester area.
