Zack finished first out of 37 wrestlers in the 165-pound weight class at the season-opening Ithaca Invitational. Seeded first, he won five straight matches to claim the title. He started with two pins, then posted three straight decisions, capped by a 6-1 win in the finals versus a College of New Jersey wrestler. Bogardus’ finish, one of four top-four showings by the Red Dragons, helped Cortland place fourth out of 15 schools in the final team standings.
