Brent set a new meet record in the decathlon with his winning score of 6,339 points at the SUNYAC Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Cortland. His score included 799 points in the 100-meter dash (11.28), 796 points in the 110-meter hurdles (15.45), 765 points in the 400-meter dash (51.09), and 743 points in the long jump (6.70 meters/21' 11.75").
