Senior Erin Carrino (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) and junior Mallory Guerin (Port Jefferson) led the Red Dragons with two goals apiece. Guerin also finished with an assist. Junior Erin Smith (Greene) scored once and notched two assists. Sophomore Abbey Wentlent (Greene) and junior Holly Flanigan (Amherst/Williamsville North) each added a goal , while junior Karly Vdoviak (Johnstown) and freshman Lauren Landi (Putnam Valley) registered one assist apiece. Landi's assist was her first collegiate point.

Sophomore goalie Amanda Perricone (Bedminster, PA/Pennridge) made five saves over 55:27 and senior Emily von Schondorf (Webster/Webster Thomas) did not have to make any saves over the final 14:33 as they combined for the shutout. Carrino tallied a pair of unassisted goals 2:54 and 11:26 into the game to stake the Red Dragons to a 2-0 lead. Guerin scored Cortland's next two goals – one assisted by Vdoviak 12:29 into the half and the other assisted by Smith with 14:32 elapsed. Wentlent's goal, off a Smith assist, extended the lead to 5-0 less than a minute after Guerin's second goal. Flanigan scored her first goal of the season, assisted by Guerin with 16:59 left in the half and Cortland led 6-0. The Red Dragons' final goal came 6:53 into the second half when Smith converted a crossing pass from Landi.

Cortland claimed the “Dragon Sword” for the 13th straight year. The winner's prize is an actual three-foot long Samurai-style sword with a red and white metallic sheath, a dragon's head handle and a dragon's wing and talon making up the hand guard. Oswego graduates Michael and Kimberlee (Bennett) Champitto donated the sword in 2000 as a trophy for the annual Cortland-Oswego field hockey winner.

Cortland will play at Morrisville State Saturday at 11 a.m.
