ONEONTA, N.Y. – Suzanne Wright scored off a rebound with 32 seconds left in regulation to lift Oneonta to a 1-0 victory over visiting Cortland in a SUNYAC field hockey contest. Oneonta improves to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the league. Cortland is now 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the SUNYAC.

Amanda Perricone (Bedminster, PA/Pennridge) made a save on a shot by Oneonta's Chelsea Remling, but Wright was able to knock in the rebound for the game's lone goal. Cortland had one last chance to tie the game, but a
Sara Woodward (Ancram/Pine Plains) shot was saved by Oneonta netminder Tess Tracy with 12 seconds left.
Wright had an opportunity to give Oneonta the lead just under 11 minutes into the second half, but was denied on a defensive save by Cortland sophomore
Erica Wharton (Putnam Valley).
Tracy made four saves for the shutout, while Perricone finished with five saves. Oneonta held a slight 9-7 advantage in shots, and Cortland earned seven penalty corners to six for the hosts.
The matchup featured the two teams that played for the SUNYAC title last season. Cortland beat Oneonta, 2-1 in overtime, in the SUNYAC tournament finals in Cortland and had previously won, 1-0 in penalty strokes after a scoreless regulation and overtime, during the regular season last fall.
Cortland will play at New Paltz Saturday at 1 p.m.
