Johnson's First-Half Goal Holds Up in 1-0 Win at Potsdam

POTSDAM, N.Y. – Sophomore forward Dillon Johnson (Northport) scored with 20 seconds left in the first half as Cortland defeated Potsdam, 1-0, in a SUNYAC contest. The Red Dragons improved to 2-1 in the league and 5-5 overall. The Bears are now 0-2 in league play and 6-5 overall.

Johnson netted his fourth goal of the season off an assist from junior Darren McCormack (Dublin, Ireland/Fingal Community). He beat a defender and found the right corner of the net for the game's lone goal.

Junior Tim Beauvais (Hilton) made six saves for his third shutout of the season. Potsdam goalie Stefan Sloma also recorded six saves. Potsdam pressured Cortland a couple of times late, but Beauvais made two saves in the final 16 minutes to preserve the victory. Cortland outshot the Bears, 16-13, and earned seven of the game's eight corner kicks.

Cortland will travel to Plattsburgh Saturday for a 1 p.m. league game.
