PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Sophomore
Dillon Johnson (Northport) scored six minutes, 56 seconds into overtime to lead the Cortland men's soccer team to a second-half comeback win at Plattsburgh Saturday afternoon in SUNYAC action. Johnson's game-winner was his second in as many games this weekend.
Junior
Darren McCormack (Dublin, Ireland/Fingal) led the Red Dragons (6-5, 3-1 SUNYAC) with one goal and one assist. Junior goalie
Tim Beauvais (Hilton) registered eight saves.
Tom Greene scored for the Cardinals (8-2-1, 2-1) with Matt Hamilton recording an assist. Goalie Mitchell Jordan made two saves.
After a scoreless first half, Greene gave Plattsburgh a 1-0 lead in the 56th minute, knocking in a rebound after Beauvais made a save on Hamilton's initial shot. With time winding down, McCormack sent the match into overtime when he scored on a free kick in the 85th minute.
In overtime, McCormack put a direct kick on goal that Jordan saved, but Johnson scored the game-winner when he headed in the rebound.
