ATLANTA, GA. – Cortland lost a five-set match to Berry College of Georgia and a three-set decision to nationally ninth-ranked Juniata College of Pennsylvania during the second day of the Emory College National Invitational Women's Volleyball Tournament.
The Red Dragons finished the tournament 0-4, with three of the losses to nationally ranked teams. Cortland completes the regular season with a 14-21 record. The Red Dragons will play Fredonia in the SUNYAC tournament quarterfinals on Friday, Nov. 8 at 3 p.m. in New Paltz.
Berry defeated Cortland by scores of 27-29, 25-19, 18-25, 25-17 and 15-10. Senior

Mary Kelly (Guilderland) and sophomore
Kim Givelechian (Roslyn Heights/Herricks) led the Red Dragons with 10 kills each. Kelly also paced the team with seven blocks.

Liz Roberts (Island Park/West Hempstead) finished with 37 assists, freshman
Victoria Grix (Pearl River) had 18 digs and senior
Krissy Silk (Massapequa Park/Massapequa) totaled 17 digs and three aces.
Emily Stromberg led Berry (22-6) with 22 kills and Sarah Steffan added 15 kills. Lauren Schmitz and Stephanie Quinn recorded 30 assists apiece.
Juniata improved to 28-4 on the season with its 25-17, 26-24, 25-21 win over the Red Dragons. In defeat, Givelechian led Cortland with seven kills and Roberts had 26 assists. Freshman
Samantha Czeczotka (Elwood/John H. Glenn) amassed a team-best 12 digs and Grix added 11 digs. Hintz was the team leader with six blocks.
For Juniata, Nakita Gearhart finished with 18 kills and Kelly Reynolds distributed 26 assists.
