Red Dragons Match School Single-Game Scoring Record in 15-0 Win vs. Morrisville

CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Cortland field hockey team tied a school record for single-game scoring and set a school mark for margin of victory in a 15-0 win over visiting Morrisville State in a SUNYAC contest. The Red Dragons, ranked 18th nationally in Div. III, improved to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the league. Morrisville is 0-9 and 0-3.

Other Red Dragon goal scorers included junior Emily Woods (Williamsville/Williamsville North), sophomore Emmajean Speer (Cazenovia), freshman Alexa Sanzone (Rome/Rome Free Academy) and sophomore Brittany Murphy (North Syracuse/Cicero-North Syracuse).

Three goalies combined for the shutout. Junior Amanda Perricone (Bedminster, PA/Pennridge) played the first 18 minutes, 18 seconds, followed by freshman Chelsea Palma (Holbrook/Sachem North) for 32:12 and freshman Mairead Hourihan (Yorktown Heights/Lakeland) for the final 19:30. Palma recorded Cortland's lone save as the Red Dragons finished with a 64-2 advantage in total shots.

Nicole Gregg (Whitney Point) started in goal for Morrisville and made 11 saves in the first half. Meaghan Mack (Endicott/Maine-Endwell) recorded 12 saves in the second half. The Mustangs also registered four defensive saves – two by Carolyn Sobol (Amherst) and one each by Katrina Kilmer (Walton) and Abby Hastings (Morrisville/Morrisville-Eaton).

Cortland led 8-0 at halftime. Stein scored all three of her goals in the game's first 19 minutes.
