NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – Sophomore
Shelby Underwood (Marathon) scored two goals to lead the Cortland field hockey team to a 3-0 win at New Paltz in SUNYAC action Saturday afternoon. The Red Dragons improved to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference, while the Hawks fell to 5-4 and 1-1.

Alexa Sanzone (Rome/Rome Free Academy) also tallied a goal for Cortland with juniors
Brenna Couture (Red Hook) and
Jillian Vogl (Cazenovia) each contributing one assist. Sophomore goalie
Mairead Hourihan (Yorktown Heights/Lakeland) made three saves in posting the shutout. Goalie Alayna Wageman turned aside eight shots for New Paltz.
Underwood scored her first goal of the game 23 minutes, 34 seconds into the contest when she knocked in a rebound after an initial save by Wageman. Cortland took a 2-0 lead into the half as Underwood scored her second off an assist by Couture at 33:38. Sanzone completed the scoring at 58:37 on a penalty-corner goal with Vogl assisting on the score.
