GALLOWAY, N.J. – The Cortland women's volleyball team dropped to 5-3 on the season after falling to Haverford College in five sets and Richard Stockton College in four sets in matches played at Richard Stockton.
Cortland won the first two sets versus Haverford, 25-16 and 25-22, but the Fords won the last three sets, 25-22, 25-17 and 15-8. The host Ospreys beat the Red Dragons by set scores of 25-22, 24-26, 25-13 and 25-21.
Junior
Kayla Pollock (Massapequa) led Cortland in the Haverford match with 15 kills and a .353 attack percentage. Freshman
Amanda May (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) recorded nine kills and a .350 attack percentage and senior
Mary Kelly (Guilderland) added seven kills and two blocks.
Sophomore
Liz Roberts (Island Park/West Hempstead) totaled 38 assists and 12 digs. Sophomore
Samantha Czeczotka (Elwood/John H. Glenn) served six aces and tallied 14 digs, sophomore
Melanie McGuirk (Lido Beach/Kellenberg) led the team with 27 digs and sophomore
Victoria Grix (Pearl River) finished with 11 digs.
Czeczotka paced the Red Dragons versus Stockton with nine kills and a .350 attack percentage. Pollock had seven kills, while Kelly and freshman
Janine Patora (Salt Point/Arlington) contributed six kills each. Roberts dished out 31 assists, Kelly led the team with five blocks and Czeczotka and Grix shared team honors with 11 digs each.
Cortland will travel to the University of Scranton for a dual match on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
