GENEVA, N.Y. - Hannah Wood scored a pair of second-half goals to break open a close game as the nationally sixth-ranked William Smith field hockey team defeated Cortland, 3-0, in non-conference action Saturday afternoon.
Freshman goalie
Kailynne Reinoehl (Lititz, PA/Warwick) made nine saves in 67:05, and
Mairead Hourihan (Yorktown Heights/Lakeland) played 2:55 without seeing a shot on cage for the Red Dragons (10-4). Sophomore
Meg Redmond (Accord/Rondout Valley) recorded a defensive save.
Alessandra Patrizio also tallied a goal for the Herons (13-1), while Cydney Conley and Maura Moran each collected an assist. Goalie Emily King turned aside three shots in posting the shutout.
Patrizio scored the game winner just 54 seconds into the contest. The score remained 1-0 heading into the second half. Wood notched her first goal at 48:45 on a rebound and completed the scoring at 64:19 with her 22nd goal of the season off a penalty corner.
