MAHWAH, N.J. - The Cortland women's volleyball team cruised past Brooklyn College, 25-8, 25-12, 25-8, to open play at the Ramapo College Roadrunner Invitational.
The Red Dragons (7-11) will face Hunter College at 11 a.m. and the host school at 1 p.m. on Saturday. The tournament was originally scheduled for Cortland to play four matches, but a recent cancellation by a school forced a change in the schedule.
Junior
Samantha Czeczotka (Elwood/John H. Glenn) led Cortland with 10 kills and just one error in 15 attempts for a .600 attack percentage. She also totaled three aces, six digs and two blocks. Freshman
Tracy Singleton (Stony Brook/Ward Melville) added eight kills with no errors in 11 attempts for a .727 attack percentage and sophomore
Amanda May (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) posted an .857 attack percentage with six kills and no errors in seven attempts.
Also for the Red Dragons, sophomore
Janine Patora (Salt Point/Arlington) rang up seven kills and four aces and junior
Liz Roberts (Island Park/West Hempstead) added 24 assists and four aces. Patora, junior
Melanie McGuirk (Lido Beach/Kellenberg) and freshman
Alexandra Graff (Apex, NC) shared the team lead with 10 digs each.
Francesca LoCascio led Brooklyn (5-10) with seven kills and nine digs.
Cortland finished the match with a .416 team attack percentage (47 kills, 10 errors in 89 attempts) compared to Brooklyn's .044 attack percentage.
