ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Michelle Relin recorded a hat trick to lead the Rochester field hockey team to a 3-0 victory versus Cortland Saturday afternoon in non-conference action. The Red Dragons fell to 7-3 with the setback, while the Yellowjackets improved to 9-2 with the win.
Freshman goalie Kailynne Reinohl (Lititz, PA/Warwick) registered three saves for Cortland, and junior
Alexa Sanzone (Rome/Rome Free Academy) recorded a defensive save.
Goalie Tara Lamberti earned the shutout for Rochester, turning aside seven shots. Sayaka Abe and Mimi Adar each contributed an assist.
Relin scored her first goal of the game 5:15 into the game with a shot from the center of the circle off a penalty corner. Early in the second half, Cortland had an excellent chance to tie the score, but Lamberti made a save on senior
Jillian Vogl's (Cazenovia) point-blank bid off a penalty corner. Just under 10 minutes later, Sanzone kept it a 1-0 score with her defensive save.
Relin tallied her second goal of the game at 54:07 with a shot to the lower left of the cage and completed the hat trick with a rebound goal at 63:56.
