WASHINGTON, D.C. – Sophomore
Kristen Ohberg (Brewster) scored a career-high six goals to help lead the nationally second-ranked Cortland women's lacrosse team to a 19-12 victory at 12th-ranked Catholic University Monday afternoon in a match up of unbeaten teams. The Red Dragons improved to 3-0 on the season, while Cardinals fell to 3-1.

Emma Hayes-Hurley (Huntington) and freshman
Hannah Elmer (Syracuse/West Genesee) each recorded one goal and one assist, and junior
Nicole Bello (Camillus/West Genesee) contributed two assists.

Liz Ingalls (Centerport/St. Anthony's) made three saves in 39:30 before giving way to sophomore
Jaclyn Beshlian (Wantagh), who stopped three shots over the final 20:30. Hayes-Hurley won a game-high nine draw controls and collected three ground balls. Gentile secured five draws and scooped up three ground balls, while Ohberg had four ground balls and Monaghan won three draws.
Nicolette Crisalli led Catholic with four goals. Lindsay Brophy tallied two goals and two assists, Laura Dunn registered two goals and one assist, Madeline Wilson scored twice and Clair Schmitzer had one goal and one assist. Goalie Tricia Pehnke turned aside eight shots. Schmitzer collected four ground balls and caused two turnovers.
After Catholic took the lead just 12 seconds into the game, the Red Dragons went ahead 4-1 as Gentile netted three straight goals and Monaghan scored. The teams traded the next six goals, and Cortland led 7-4 at the 4:35 mark of the first half. The Red Dragons finished off the half with three of the final four goals, two from Bennett and one from Ohberg, for a 10-5 advantage at the break
Brophy pulled the Cardinals to within 10-6 with an early second-half goal, but Cortland answered with a four-goal outburst from four different players in a 2:18 span to build a 14-6 lead. Catholic chipped away at the deficit, getting as close as 15-10 at the 15:57 mark. Ohberg and Monaghan tallied back-to-back goals to make it a 17-10 game with 12:39 remaining. Brophy and Wilson responded with goals at 9:07 and 6:40 respectively, to get Catholic within 17-12, but Monaghan and Ohberg finished off the scoring for the 19-12 final.
