ITHACA, N.Y. – Junior
Ashley Gentile (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) set career highs of five goals and six points to lead the nationally sixth-ranked Cortland women's lacrosse team to a 13-10 non-conference victory at Ithaca College in foggy conditions at Higgins Field Thursday afternoon. The Red Dragons improved to 5-1 with the win, while the Bombers fell to 3-5 with the loss.

Emma Hayes-Hurley (Huntington) backed up Gentile's career day with three goals. Junior

Nicole Bello (Camillus/West Genesee) and freshman
Hannah Elmer (Syracuse/West Genesee) each recorded one goal and one assist and sophomore
Allyson McNerney (Tully) tallied a goal. Senior
Marilyn Farrell (Fayetteville/Fayetteville-Manlius) tied her career high with five assists.

Jaclyn Beshlian (Wantagh) registered eight saves. Hayes-Hurley added three draw controls and three ground balls, and Monaghan collected a game-high five ground balls.
Ally Runyon led Ithaca with five goals and one assist. Riley Marion had two goals and one assist, Morgan Cadwell netted two goals, Natalie Lang scored once and Delaney Gilson and Morgan Racicot each chipped in with an assist. Goalie Emily Ross made six saves. Lang added six draws and four ground balls, while Runyon collected four ground balls.
The Bombers grabbed a 3-1 lead 10:09 into the game as Marion scored once and Runyon netted a pair of goals. Monaghan scored for Cortland. Gentile, Hayes-Hurley and Monaghan then netted three straight goals for the Red Dragons to give Cortland a 4-3 advantage. Marion and Runyon wrapped goals around a Hayes-Hurley score and the game was tied at 5-5 with 7:14 left in the half. The Red Dragons ended the half with a four-goal run for a 9-5 lead at the break. Bello started the streak before Gentile notched three consecutive goals.
Lang and Elmer traded goals to start the second half, but Ithaca netted three straight goals to make it a 10-9 game with 13:07 to play. McNerney stopped the run with her first goal of the season at 11:44, and Gentile scored her fifth of the game at 10:45 for a 12-9 Cortland lead. Runyon cut the advantage to 12-10 at 5:22, but Hayes-Hurley capped the scoring with her third goal of the game at 1:08 and the Red Dragons held on for the win after securing the ensuing draw control.
