Ashley Gentile (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) tied her career high with five goals and freshman
Hannah Elmer (Syracuse/West Genesee) scored a career-high four goals to lead the nationally sixth-ranked Cortland women's lacrosse team to a 14-10 victory over Fredonia in a SUNYAC competition Saturday afternoon at the Stadium Complex. The Red Dragons improved to 6-1 overall and 1-0 in SUNYAC play, and the Blue Devils fell to 6-2 and 0-1 in SUNYAC play.

Nicole Bello (Camillus/West Genesee) scored a goal and tallied two assists, junior
Tara Monaghan (Stony Point/North Rockland) recorded one goal and one assist and sophomore

Marilyn Farrell (Fayetteville/Fayetteville-Manlius) and sophomore
Kristen Ohberg (Brewster) each recorded two assists.

Jaclyn Beshlian (Wantagh) registered three saves in 47:38 and then gave way to junior
Liz Ingalls (Centerport/St. Anthony's) who did not record a save in 12:22. Hayes-Hurley added a game-high eight draw controls and also picked up two ground balls.
Katie Kleine led Fredonia with three goals and two assists. Emily Polizzi and Audrey Yokopovich had three goals and one assist each, Marissa Cussins tallied a goal and an assist and Katie Glagolev recorded an assist. Goalie Nicole Burrows made four saves. Kristie Kleine won five draws and Katie Kleine collected a game-high three ground balls.
The teams traded goals early, leaving the score 2-2 9:19 into the game. Elmer and Monaghan scored for Cortland, while Kleine and Yokopovich netted goals for Fredonia. Bello, Elmer and Gentile then netted three straight goals for the Red Dragons to give Cortland a 5-2 advantage. Polizzi answered with two straight goals bringing the score to 5-4, but Elmer added a goal with 2:21 remaining in the first half to give the Red Dragons a two-goal lead heading into the break.
Elmer scored to make it a 7-4 score-line, but Cussins answered back with her only goal of the game. Tortorici and Gentile scored back-to-back goals to extend the lead to four but Yokopovich and Kleine scored, keeping Fredonia within two. The Red Dragons responded with scored three unanswered goals, two by Hayes-Hurley and one by Bello, making it 12-7 with 15:21 to play. Yokopovic and Kleine followed with back-to-back goals for Fredonia, bringing them within three at 12-9, but Gentile tallied two late goals, separated by a score from Polizzi, to seal the win for Cortland.
