MONTCLAIR, N.J.  - Victoria Rossi and Amber Haslett scored goals and Rebecca Brattole recorded a shutout with two saves as nationally 11th-ranked Montclair State defeated visiting Cortland, 2-0, in a non-league field hockey game.

Kailynne Reinoehl (Lititz, PA/Warwick) finished with 10 saves.
Montclair (5-1) got on the board in the 24th minute when Rossi scored off an assist from Maura Johnston. The hosts added an insurance goal with 15:48 left in the game on Haslett's goal, assisted by Kailey Dalgauer.
One of the best chances for Cortland (3-2) came in the final minute of the first half on a shot by 
Gabby Stein (Endwell/Maine-Endwell) that was turned away on a defensive save by Megan Roeloffs. Montclair outshot Cortland, 22-6, and held a 10-0 advantage in penalty corners.
Cortland opens SUNYAC play next Friday, Sept. 25, by hosting Oneonta at 4 p.m.
