CORTLAND, N.Y. – Senior
Nick Tata (Rochester/Aquinas Institute) scored his team-high seventh goal of the season with 2:13 remaining in regulation to lift the Cortland men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory versus Buffalo St. Saturday afternoon in SUNYAC action at Jets Field.
Sophomore
Michael Miner (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) assisted on Cortland's (10-2, 5-1 SUNYAC) goal. Junior goalie
Connor Young (Bayport/Bayport-Blue Point) made five saves for the Red Dragons in posting his fourth shutout of the season. Senior goalie William Banahene (Rochester/Brighton) registered four saves for the Bengals (8-4-1, 3-2).
The Bengals outshot Cortland, 11-5, in the opening half although neither team produced a true scoring chance. The first good opportunity in the second half came in the 79th minute, but Banahene made a save at the right post on a header by Cortland senior
Daniel Friend (Deer Park) after a corner kick.
With the game appearing to head into overtime, the Bengals turned the ball over just before midfield. Miner ran onto the ball, carried up the middle of the field and slipped a pass to his right.
