Red Dragon Men Compete at Season-Opening Greg Page Relays

ITHACA, N.Y. – Cortland posted six ECAC-qualifying efforts, including two in runner-up showings by Mitch Couch (Oneonta), as the Red Dragons started their season at the Cornell Greg Page Relays men's indoor track and field meet. The competition was moved to Ithaca College's Athletics & Events Center due to resurfacing work at Cornell's home facility.

Couch placed second in both the shot put at 14.80 meters (48' 6.75") and the weight throw at 17.16 meters (56' 3.75"). Cortland also received two ECAC performances in the 60-meter hurdles as Jack Flood (Blue Point/Bayport-Blue Point) finished fourth (8.44) and Connor Christopherson (Morrisonville/Saranac) was eighth (8.60).

The Red Dragons' other two ECAC qualifiers were Dawan Jones (Buffalo/Tapestry Charter) in the triple jump with a sixth-place distance of 13.73 meters (45' 0.5") and Matt Greenlaw (Warwick/Warwick Valley) in the pole vault with a seventh-place height of 4.50 meters (14' 9").

Jones also finished ninth in the long jump at 6.37 meters (20' 10.75"). Nick Vachon (Johnson City/Maine-Endwell) was fifth in the high jump (1.89 meters/6' 2.25") and Charlie Kollmer (Mount Sinai) placed eighth in the pole vault (4.35 meters/14' 3.25").

Six Red Dragons finished in the top eight out of 19 runners in the 3,000 meters. Cabel McCandless (Lindenhurst) was third in 9:06.20, followed by Aaron Granger (Delevan/Pioneer) in fourth (9:09.18) and Andrew Boyce (Cortland) in fifth (9:18.28). Megamed Abdurahim (Rochester/Rush-Henrietta) finished sixth (9:19.12), Mitch Ryan (Plattsburgh/Seton Catholic) was seventh (9:21.87), and Grant Boyd (Newburgh/Newburgh Free Academy) placed eighth (9:22.39).

Also for Cortland, the 4x400-meter relay unit of Noah Serrette (Lawrence), Chjuvaughn Cameron (Riverhead), Andrew Yarde (Valley Stream/Holy Trinity) and Aidan Farrell (Bloomingburg/Pine Bush) finished in eighth place in 3:31.68.

Cortland will send competitors to the RIT Early Season Invitational on Thursday, December 8, and to the Lehigh University Fast Times Before Finals Meet on Friday-Saturday, December 9-10.
