MEDFORD, MASS. - Junior
Kristen Ohberg (Brewster) scored a game-high seven points to become the 16th player in Cortland program history to reach 200 career points, and the nationally top-ranked Red Dragons netted the game's final five goals to pull away for an 18-10 victory at Tufts University in non-conference women's lacrosse action Wednesday afternoon.
Ohberg raised her career total to 202 points on 125 goals and 77 assists with her four goals and three assists in the win. Senior
Nicole Bello (Camillus/West Genesee) also scored four goals for Cortland (5-0) and added an assist. Senior
Tara Monaghan (Stony Point/North Rockland) recorded three goals and one assist, and sophomore
Hannah Elmer (Syracuse/West Genesee) netted three goals. Freshman
Carly Stone (Syracuse/Jamesville-DeWitt) scored twice, junior
Makenzie Annable (Navarino/Onondaga) registered one goal and two assists and senior
Ashley Gentile (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) notched a goal.

Four players scored two goals apiece for the Jumbos (2-2). Brigid Bowser and Caroline Ross each tallied two goals and one assist, while Kate Mackin and Megan Toner netted a pair of goals. Gabby Vinci contributed one goal and one assist, Cecily Freliech scored a goal and Annie Sullivan chipped in with an assist.
Goalie Audrey Evers stopped 13 shots, Ross won seven draws, Olivia Veillette scooped up three ground balls and caused two turnovers and Bowser also recorded two caused turnovers.
The game stayed tight throughout the first half with the largest lead belonging to Cortland at 9-6 before Tufts made it a 9-7 game at the break. Elmer netted three of her goals and Ohberg recorded two goals and two assists for the Red Dragons in the opening 30 minutes, while Bowser, Macklin and Toner each tallied a pair of goals for the Jumbos.
Cortland grabbed the momentum in the first 11:33 of the second half, outscoring Tufts, 4-1, to build a 13-8 lead as four different players found the back of the net. Mackin and Vinci cut the advantage to 13-10 with goals at 11:25 and 9:31, respectively, for the Jumbos, but the Red Dragons put the win away with a 5-0 run to finish the game as Ohberg and Monaghan each scored twice and Bello added a goal.  Â
