CORTLAND, N.Y. – The nationally top-ranked Cortland women's lacrosse team went on an 11-0 run spanning the end of the first half and deep into the second half to erase a 6-5 deficit in defeating 11th-ranked The College at Brockport, 17-7, Tuesday afternoon in a match up of the last remaining unbeatens in Div. III. The Red Dragons improved to 13-0 overall and 5-0 in the SUNYAC with the win, while the Golden Eagles fell to 11-1 and 4-1.

Ashley Gentile (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) led Cortland with five goals, four in the second half. Senior
Tara Monaghan (Stony Point/North Rockland) and freshman
Carly Stone (Syracuse/Jamesville-DeWitt) each netted three goals with Monaghan adding an assist.

Kristen Ohberg (Brewster) tallied a game-high six points for the Red Dragons on two goals and four assists. Sophomore
Hannah Elmer (Syracuse/West Genesee) recorded two goals and two assists, junior
Makenzie Annable (Navarino/Onondaga) contributed two goals and one assist and senior
Nicole Bello (Camillus/West Genesee) chipped in with one assist.

Jaclyn Beshlian (Wantagh) stopped a career-high 14 shots, including 10-of-11 in the second half. Monaghan led Cortland with four draw controls, and Gentile caused two turnovers.
Junior Kelly Wall (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) paced Brockport with three goals and one assist. Senior Makensie Schuber (Webster/Webster Thomas) and sophomore Samantha Dooling (Kirkville/East Syracuse Minoa) notched two goals apiece.
Sophomore Sara Shaddock (Corning/Corning East) started in goal and made two saves in 38:55. Sophomore Paige Lammes (Brockport) registered three saves over the final 21:05. Senior Ciara McKeon (Westhampton/Westhampton Beach) won six draws, junior Lauren Mancini (Liverpool) forced three turnovers and collected three ground balls and Shaddock scooped up four ground balls.
The game remained tight throughout the opening 30 minutes with neither team able to hold more than a one-goal lead. Cortland led 2-1 at the 20:38 mark with goals by Stone and Monaghan sandwiched around Wall's first of the game. Wall and Schuber gave the Golden Eagles their first lead at 3-2 with goals less than two minutes apart before the teams traded the next seven goals from seven different players that left the scored tied at 6-6 heading into the half.
The second 30 minutes of action proved to be much different than the first 30 minutes as Cortland netted 10 straight goals to take control of the game. Gentile opened the second half with back-to-back goals, and Monaghan followed with a score and Stone connected twice in a row to make it an 11-6 game with 18:06 remaining.
The Red Dragons clinched the game with a four-goal run in 4:30 for a 15-6 lead at the 13:03 mark. Elmer scored once, Gentile tallied a pair of goals and Monaghan finished the spurt with her third goal of the game. Annable's goal at 7:15 pushed the lead to 16-6 before Dooling scored with 25 seconds remaining and Ohberg capped the scoring on a free-position goal with two seconds remaining.
