CORTLAND, N.Y. – Sophomore
Hannah Elmer (Syracuse/West Genesee) scored a career-high eight points on four goals and four assists to become the 43rd player in Cortland women's lacrosse history to reach 100 career points as the nationally top-ranked Red Dragons defeated Potsdam, 21-7, in SUNYAC action Tuesday afternoon at the Stadium Complex.

Tara Monaghan (Stony Point/North Rockland) also tallied four goals for Cortland (10-0, 2-0 SUNYAC) with Gentile adding a pair of assists. Junior
Kristen Ohberg (Brewster) recorded three goals and three assists, and senior
Elizabeth LaComb (Syracuse/West Genesee) scored three times. Seniors

Elise Bennett (Webster/Webster Thomas) and sophomore
Megan Gonzalez (Miller Place) each notched a goal and junior
Allyson McNerney (Tully) and sophomore
Katie Wolfe (East Amherst/Williamsville North) registered one assist apiece.

Jaclyn Beshlian (Wantagh) started in goal for the Red Dragons, making one save in 36:30. Junior
Victoria Fusco (Watertown/Immaculate Heart) stopped three shots in 13:56, and senior
Liz Ingalls (Centerport/St. Anthony's) turned aside one shot over the final 9:34. Gentile won 10 draws and collected five ground balls, while Monaghan controlled five draws and sophomore
Liza Ferro (Cortland) secured four draws.
Senior Maggie McCabe (Camillus/West Genesee) and junior Michaela Cole (Parishville/Parishville-Hopkinton) led the Bears (4-4, 1-1 SUNYAC) with two goals each. Junior Murphy Newman (Canton/Berkshire School) tallied one goal and two assists, senior Bri McClusky (Watertown/Immaculate Heart) contributed one goal and one assist, junior Katie Lapinski (Canton/Hugh C Williams) netted a goal and sophomore Rachael Huntley (Canton/Hugh C. Williams) chipped in with an assist.
Junior Devan Olschewske (Canandaigua) started in the cage, registering 10 saves in 51:50 before giving way to freshman Katie Longamore (Dexter/General Brown) who stopped one shot in the final 8:10. McCabe added four ground balls and three draws, while junior Alyssa Ferenczy (Williamsville/Williamsville South) scooped up four ground balls.
The teams combined for 20 goals in the first half with Cortland taking a 14-6 lead into the break. The Red Dragons opened up a 3-0 lead 3:26 into the game before Potsdam closed to 4-2 at the 19:16 mark. Cortland then went on a seven-goal spurt, three from Gentile and a pair from Monaghan, to build an 11-2 lead with 10:53 left in the half. Elmer recorded her 100th career point with an assist on a Monaghan goal during the run.
The Bears responded with a three-goal rally in less than a minute to make it an 11-5 game as three different players found the back of the net. The Red Dragons then answered with three goals, two by Ohberg and one from Gentile, in just under a minute to go ahead 14-5, and McClusky closed the half with her goal just 10 seconds before intermission.
Cortland quickly seized control of the game in the second half with four goals in less than eight minutes to build an 18-6 advantage with 22:50 remaining. LaComb's third score of the game at 13:47 put the Red Dragons ahead, 19-6. Bennett then notched her goal at 8:29, and Lapinski followed with her score at 4:26. Gonzalez completed the scoring off of McNerney's assist with 12 seconds on the clock for the 21-7 final.
