CORTLAND, N.Y. – Sophomore Melissa Sheeran (Schaghticoke/Millbrook School) scored four goals to lead the nationally top-ranked Plattsburgh women's ice hockey team to a 7-0 win over Cortland Friday night in ECAC West action at Alumni Arena.
Junior Erin Brand (Long Beach/Syracuse) contributed two goals and one assist for the Cardinals (17-1, 11-1 ECAC West), while junior Jordan Lipson (Davis, CA/Pomfret Prep) added a goal. Sophomore Kayla Meneghin (Clifton, NJ/The Gunnery) registered four assists, freshman Maci Hoskins (Oklahoma City, OK/Northwood School) collected three assists, and three others each tallied one assist.
Freshman goalie Kassie Abbott (Reading, MA/Boston Shamrocks U-19) made 13 saves to earn the shutout for Plattsburgh. Senior goalie
Kelly Farinella (Marlton, NJ/New Jersey Rockets) stopped 27 shots through two periods for the Red Dragons (2-15. 1-10) before giving way to freshman
Rachael Farmer (Grand Island/Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles), who turned aside 11 shots in the third period.
