Women's Ice Hockey Loses at Morrisville St., 5-1

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville St. women's ice hockey team completed a home-and-home weekend sweep of Cortland with a 5-1 victory Saturday afternoon to improve to 12-2 on the season. The Red Dragons fell to 1-10.

Freshman Miranda Kolb (Watertown/Syracuse Nationals) scored Cortland's goal on the power play late in the third period. Senior Makenzie Wright (Burlington, ON/New Jersey Rockets) and sophomore Charlie Calamari (Barrington, IL/Chicago Fury) each registered an assist. Freshman goalie Rachael Farmer (Grand Island/Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles) made 18 saves through two periods of action. Senior Kelly Farinella (Marlton, NJ/New Jersey Rockets) stopped four shots over the final 20 minutes.

Vanessa Klimpke score twice for the Mustangs, and Kaitlyn Schlake added one goal and two assists. Alicia Eamon and Maria deWilde each tallied a goal, Stephanie Strymecki picked up two assists, and four others each chipped in with one assist. Goalie Renee Schmaltz turned aside 16 shots.
