Melissa Emilio ran the second leg on Cortland's fifth-place 4x400-meter relay team
ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cortland women's indoor track and field team opened its 2017-18 season with four top-20 national performances at the Cornell University Greg Page Relays.
Harley Buczkowski (Holland Patent) presently ranks 12th nationally in Division III in the weight throw with her fourth-place distance of 15.54 meters (51' 0").
Cristin Rodriguez (Merrick/Calhoun) is 15th nationally in the 60-meter hurdles after registering a seventh-place time of 9.40 seconds, and
Sara Billings (Gansevoort/South Glens Falls) ranks 19th nationally with her sixth-place time of 10:45.01 in the 3,000 meters.
Cortland's 4x400-meter relay squad of
Jesse Correale (Staten Island/Notre Dame Academy),
Melissa Emilio (Oneonta),
Carolyn Wagner (Delmar/Bethlehem) and
Kaylee Uhl (Waverly) finished in fifth place in 4:15.31. They are currently ranked 15th nationally.
Nikianne Otto (Oakdale/Connetquot) finished sixth in the pole vault at 3.05 meters (10' 0").
Megan Wagner (Niskayuna) finished eighth in the 3,000 meters (11:06.63), with
Sam Himes (Buffalo/Sweet Home) right behind her in ninth place (11:07.37).
Emilio and
Shannon Imbornoni (Plainview/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) placed ninth (1:22.14) and 10th (1:22.20), respectively, with their nearly identical performances in the 500 meters.
Cat Lutjen (Sound Beach/Miller Place) was 12th in the shot put (10.29 meters/33' 9.25") and
Kelly Gardner (Lake Ronkonkoma/Sachem North) finished 14th in the long jump (4.75 meters/15' 7").
Cortland also sent pentathletes to the Brockport Early Season Invitational Friday and Saturday.
Teagan Perry (Windsor) was the Red Dragons' top finisher with an 11th-place score of 2,292 points.
Cortland returns to action with meets at Ithaca College Friday and Lehigh University Friday and Saturday.
