Four Red Dragon Women Post Victories in Track and Field Dual Meet at Ithaca

ITHACA, N.Y. – Four Cortland athletes earned victories as the Red Dragons fell, 94-33, at Ithaca College in a women's indoor track and field dual meet.

Cortland competed in a track and field dual for the first time since hosting Ithaca on Feb. 5, 1994. The meet scoring awarded five points for first place, three for second, and one for third in individual events, and only first-place points in relays.

Dana Messina (East Meadow) won the 200-meter dash in 27.33 seconds and finished third in the 60-meter dash in 8.18 seconds. Melissa Emilio (Oneonta) won the 800 meters in 2:26.84, which ranks her ninth nationally in Division III. Harley Buczkowski (Holland Patent) was victorious in the weight throw at 15.56 meters (51' 0.75"), which improved her to an 11th-place national position, and Kaylee Uhl (Waverly) won the 400-meter dash in 1:01.25, which currently ranks 17th in the country.

Sara Billings (Gansevoort/South Glens Falls) placed second in the mile in 5:26.14, which ranks ninth nationally, and Cristin Rodriguez (Merrick/Calhoun) ranks 12th nationally with her prelim of time of 9.30 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles. She finished second in the finals in 9.31 seconds. Asia Cornwall (East Greenbush/Columbia) was also an event runner-up with her time of 27.68 seconds in the 200-meter dash.

Megan Wagner (Niskayuna) finished third in the mile in 5:26.89, with Sam Himes (Buffalo/Sweet Home) close by in fourth place in 5:27.31. Their times rank them 11th and 12th in the nation, respectively. Shannon Imbornoni (Plainview/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) was third in the 800 meters in 2:28.13 and ranks 12th nationally. Riley Wood (Wallkill) also entered the scoring column at the meet with a third-place long jump of 4.93 meters (16' 2.25").
