Red Dragons Can't Erase Early Deficit in 4-2 Loss at Chatham

PITTSBURGH, PA. – The Chatham women's ice hockey team opened up a 3-0 lead early into the second period and held on to defeat Cortland, 4-2, Saturday afternoon in ECAC West action.

Senior Ashley Terry (Redford/Chazy Lady Flyers) and freshman Ally Edwards (Buffalo/Buffalo Regals) each netted a goal for the Red Dragons (3-19-1, 2-13-1 ECAC West). Senior Richelle Skarbowski (Orchard Park/Univ. of New England) and sophomore Charlie Calamari (Barrington, IL/Chicago Fury) collected one assist apiece. Senior goalie Kelly Farinella (Marlton, NJ/New Jersey Rockets) turned aside 18 shots.

Erika Martin and Cassidy Colhoun paced the Cougars (6-16-1, 1-14-1) with one goal and one assist each. Michelle Jones and McKenzie Haskins notched one goal apiece, while five others each collected an assist. Goalie Tara Riley made 21 saves.

Chatham opened up a 2-0 lead after the first period on goals from Martin and Jones just over three minutes apart. Haskins made it a 3-0 game at 2:19 of the second period before Edwards' goal at 16:47 put Cortland on the scoreboard.

Colhoun pushed Chatham's lead to 4-1 at 2:01 of the third period. Terry cut Cortland's deficit to 4-2 with a power-play goal at 12:21, and the Red Dragons had a late skater-advantage cut short with a penalty as Chatham earned the win.
