Red Dragon Men Amass 19 ECAC Performances at Cornell and Utica Meets

Brent DiVittorio competes in the 60-meter hurdles at the Utica Pioneer Invitational. He finished third in the event and third in the high jump, both with ECAC-qualifying efforts.
ITHACA, N.Y. and UTICA, N.Y. – Nineteen ECAC-qualifying efforts, including five first-place finishes, highlighted Cortland's performances at two Saturday men's indoor track and field events.
 
At the Cornell Deneault Memorial, Aaron Granger (Delevan/Pioneer) placed third in the 1,000 meters (2.34.26). Mehamed Abdurahim (Rochester/Rush-Henrietta) placed fourth in the same event with a time of 2.34.96.
 
In the 3,000 meters, both Mitch Ryan (Plattsburgh/Seton Catholic) and Cabel McCandless (Lindenhurst) notched ECAC-qualifying times. Ryan clocked in with a fifth place time of 8:46.37 and McCandless was sixth in 8:48.08.
 
At the Utica Pioneer Invitational, 15 Red Dragons finished with ECAC-qualifying efforts.
 
In the 60-meter hurdles, Jack Flood (Blue Point/Bayport-Blue Point) came in first with a time of 8.40 seconds (8.35 prelims). Connor Christopherson (Morrisonville/Saranac) placed second (8.45) and Brent DiVittorio (Brewster) placed third (8.55). DiVittorio also placed third in the high jump with an ECAC-qualifying height of 1.93 meters (6' 4").
 
Nick Vachon (Johnson City/Maine-Endwell) finished first in the high jump with a height of 1.93 meters (6' 4"). Vachon cleared 1.93 meters on the first try, while DiVittorio cleared it in two tries. Dev Williams (Syracuse/Corcoran) won the long jump with an ECAC-qualifying distance of 6.81 meters (22' 4.25").
 
Cortland had four ECAC-qualifying efforts in the pole vault. Matt Greenlaw (Warwick/Warwick Valley) placed first with a height of 4.57 meters (15' 0"). Charlie Kollmer (Mount Sinai) placed second with the same height. Greenlaw only missed once at that height, however, while Kollmer missed twice. Flood finished fourth with a height of 4.42 meters (14' 6") and Ivan Mieses (Middletown) finished sixth with the same height. Flood completed the height on the first try and Mieses completed it on the second attempt.
 
Dawan Jones (Buffalo/Tapestry Charter) placed first in the triple jump with an ECAC-qualifying distance of 14.55 meters (47' 9"). C.J. White (Middletown) was second in the triple jump with a distance of 14.25 meters (46' 9"). Mitch Couch (Oneonta) placed second in two events, the shot put and weight throw. Couch had a distance of 14.88 meters (48' 10") in the shot put and 16.73 meters (54' 10.75") in the weight throw.
 
Romain Saint Germain (Westbury) placed second in the 60-meter dash with an ECAC time of 7.02.
 
Cortland returns to action Friday and Saturday, February 24-25, for the SUNYAC Indoor Championships at Brockport.
