VIRGINIA BEACH, VA. - Senior defender
Dave Foster (Farmingville/Sachem East) scored with 10 seconds remaining in regulation to give the nationally 13th-ranked Cortland men's lacrosse team a 9-8 win against Springfield College Thursday night in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The Red Dragons improved to 4-0 with the victory, while the Pride dropped to 2-1.
Eight different players overall scored at least one goal for Cortland, led by senior
T.J. deLyra (Brightwaters/Bay Shore), who netted a pair of goals. Senior

Devin Phelps (Chittenango) recorded two assists.

Joe Scalise (Fairport) made nine saves for the Red Dragons. Senior
Mike Hart (Cornelius, NC/Hough) won 12-of-21 faceoffs and collected eight ground balls. Junior
Trevor Pratt (Denver, CO/Colorado Academy) caused three turnovers, and deLyra and senior
Anthony Zangari (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Catholic) each scooped up three ground balls.
Duncan Preston paced Springfield with two goals and one assist. Jack Vail scored twice, Tom Hurley tallied one goal and two assists, Ty Daugstrup and Brendan Boss each had one goal and one assist and Dom Abate netted a goal.
Goalie Jake Reynolds turned aside 11 shots. Matthew LaCroix won nine faceoffs and secured six ground balls, Anthony Febbo collected four ground balls and caused three turnovers.
Cortland took a 4-2 lead after the first quarter, but the Pride outscored the Red Dragons 4-0 in the second quarter for a 6-4 lead at the half. After Abate made it 7-4, Cortland netted the next three goals to send the game to the fourth quarter tied at 7-7. Beresovoy gave the Red Dragons an 8-7 lead, but Vail tied the score with 3:39 remaining in the game.
Springfield won the ensuing faceoff but turned the ball over. After a Cortland timeout, Reynolds denied a shot by Phelps with just over a minute to go. The Pride worked a good clear and called timeout with 45 seconds on the clock. Out of the timeout, Scalise made a save on a shot by Abate, and sophomore
Ethan Parks (Penfield) secured the ground ball. Foster took a pass, cleared the ball and beat Reynolds for the game winner with 10 seconds remaining.
