CORTLAND, N.Y. – Fifteen different players scored goals as the nationally sixth-ranked Cortland men's lacrosse team defeated Potsdam, 24-9, in SUNYAC action Saturday afternoon at the Stadium Complex. The Red Dragons improved to 12-1 overall and 4-0 in the conference, while the Bears fell to 4-8 and 1-4.
Junior
Thomas McNaney (Marcellus) led the offense for Cortland with four goals and two assists. Senior
T.J. deLyra (Brightwaters/Bay Shore) tallied three goals and one assist. Junior

Joey Panariello (Islip) each totaled two goals and two assists, and sophomore
Dean Riley (Homer) and freshman
Danny Caroussos (Smithtown/Smithtown West) netted two goals apiece.

Will DeCamp (Bay Shore) turned aside one shot in 8:05 in his first collegiate action. Senior
Mike Hart (Cornelius, NC/Hough) won 13-of-17 faceoffs and collected nine ground balls. Freshmen
Gage Gomez (Sayville) and
Brian Williams (Holtsville/Sachem East) combined to win 13-of-19 faceoffs with nine ground balls.
Senior Casey Boulio (Carthage) paced Potsdam with three goals. Senior Berkley Stone (Madison, CT/Daniel Hand) netted a pair of goals. Senior Matt Moran (Watertown/Immaculate Heart) and juniors Eric Soderquist (Watertown) and Nick Orsini (Fairport) each contributed one goal and one assist, while freshman Nick Henrie (Massena) added a goal.
Senior goalie Jack Bezek (Webster/Webster Thomas) registered 14 saves in the first half. Sophomore Zach Sheridan (Clay/Cicero-North Syracuse) did not stop a shot in 7:55, and sophomore Sean Coe (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) turned aside six shots in the final 22:05. Soderquist led the Bears with four ground balls, and senior Michael Roukous (Dexter/General Brown), sophomore Colby Chapman (Johnson City) and freshman Josh Huiatt (Lisbon/Hugh C. Williams) each collected three ground balls.
The Red Dragons outshot the Bears, 73-31, in the game and held a 48-30 advantage in ground balls. Cortland also won 26-of-36 faceoffs in the contest. The Red Dragons lead just 4-2 after the first quarter but stretched their lead to 13-4 at the half and continued to pull away throughout the second half as Cortland emptied its bench.
