BROCKPORT, N.Y. - The nationally 19th-ranked Brockport women's lacrosse team broke open a tight game with a four-goal run late in the second half and defeated 18th-ranked Cortland, 16-11, Tuesday afternoon in a match up of unbeatens in SUNYAC play. With the win, the Golden Eagles ended Cortland's 63-game regular-season conference winning streak dating back exactly eight years ago, improved to 13-1 overall and 7-0 in the conference and clinched the top seed in the upcoming SUNYACÂ Tournament. Despite the setback, the Red Dragons (11-4, 6-1) secured the second seed in the conference tournament.

Carly Stone (Syracuse/Jamesville-DeWitt) led the Cortland offense with four goals. Senior
Kristen Ohberg (Brewster) netted three goals. Junior
Katie Wolfe (East Amherst/Williamsville North) and freshman
Molly Newton (Skaneateles) each recorded one goal and one assist, while juniors
Hannah Elmer (Syracuse/West Genesee) and
Jaycie Annable (Navarino/Onondaga) scored one goal apiece. Senior
Makenzie Annable (Navarino/Onondaga) registered two assists, and senior
Nicolette Tortorici (Deer Park) and freshman
Lexie Meager (Syracuse/West Genesee) each added an assist.
Senior goalie
Jaclyn Beshlian (Wantagh) made eight saves for the Red Dragons. Wolfe collected three ground balls and three draw controls, Stone scooped up three ground balls and Meager caused three turnovers.
Kelly Wall paced Brockport with five goals and two assists. Jessica Boddery and Heather Conklin each tallied three goals with Boddery adding an assist. Taylor Thomas had two goals and one assist, and Hannah Culle, Tess Knight and Andrea Zlinsky scored one goal apiece.
Goalie Sara Shaddock turned aside nine shots. Wall collected three ground balls, secured three draws and caused two turnovers. Cassandra Minerd recorded game highs of seven draws and four caused turnovers.
Brockport never trailed in the game, grabbing a 10-6 lead at the half. The Red Dragons cut their deficit to 10-9 just before the midway point of the second half as Stone wrapped a pair of goals around an Ohberg score. After Wall and Conklin pushed the lead back to 12-9 with 12:18 to play, Stone scored her fourth goal of the game at 10:20 to make it a 12-10 game. Brockport answered with four consecutive goals, the last at 1:56, to take control of the game. Ohberg completed the scoring with 56 seconds remaining for the 16-11 final.
