BROCKPORT, N.Y. - Shelby Perry hit a pinch-hit, walk-off homer in the bottom of the seventh in the first game, and Cortland's rally from an 8-2 deficit fell just short in the second contest, as host Brockport won a pair of one-run games versus nationally 17th-ranked Cortland, 4-3 and 8-7.
Cortland fell to 24-10 overall and 13-3 in the SUNYAC. The Red Dragons close their regular-season league schedule Saturday with a noon doubleheader at Geneseo and will host Ithaca in a makeup doubleheader next Tuesday at 3 p.m. Cortland will host the six-team SUNYAC tournament May 4-7.
Brockport (18-18, 7-9 SUNYAC) kept its SUNYAC playoff hopes alive with the wins. The Golden Eagles need to win twice Saturday versus Oswego to have a chance to earn one of the league tournament berths.

The Red Dragons had two good chances to take the lead later in the contest. Cortland put runners on second and third in the sixth on a

Jamie Lachall (Philadelphia, PA/Sun Valley) settled down after the tough first inning and did not allow a hit from the second through the fifth inning. She finished giving up six hits and four runs in six and a third innings with two strikeouts and two walks. Cortland got two runs back in the third on RBI grounders by
Niki Barbato (East Meadow/Holy Trinity) and
Mikayla Shade (Glenmont/Bethlehem), but Brockport posted two runs in the bottom of the fourth on a steal of home by Cullen during a first-and-third play and a Missavage RBI single.
The Red Dragons rallied for five runs in the top of the fifth to get back into the contest. With two outs and a runner on,

Cortland had runners on first and third with two outs in the sixth but couldn't drive in the tying run. After two hard-hit outs to start the seventh, O'Gorman reached on an infield single, but a groundout ended the game.
