CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Tufts women's lacrosse team opened up a 6-0 lead late in the first half and held off a Cortland comeback to earn a 13-11 victory against the ninth-ranked Red Dragons Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at the Stadium Complex. The Jumbos improved to 6-4 with the win and ended Cortland's 83-game home win streak which dated back to Mar. 23, 2010. The Red Dragons fell to 7-3.

Senior Kate Mackin (Chagrin Falls, OH) led Tufts with five goals. Freshman Emily Games (Wayne, PA/Radnor) contributed two goals and two assists. Freshman Lily Baldwin (Cincinnati, OH/Ursuline Academy) tallied two goals and one assist, sophomore Annie Sullivan (Barrington, RI) notched two goals, and junior Taylor Meek (Beverly, MA/Manchester-Essex) and sophomore Cecily Freliech (Wilton, CT) each chipped in with a goal.
Sophomore goalie Audrey Evers (San Francisco, CA/San Francisco University) made five saves, all in the opening half. Freliech secured four draws, and sophomore Megan Toner (Roswell, GA) collected five ground balls.
After Tufts built the 6-0 lead at the 2:37 mark of the first half, Cortland closed the half with three goals in a 1:25 span to pull to within 6-3 at the break. The Red Dragons then scored four of the first five goals of the second half to pull even at 7-7 with 20:24 on the clock. The Jumbos regained the lead for good by netting three of the next four goals for a 10-8 advantage with 13:07 to play. Cortland cut its deficit to one goal three times and trailed 12-11 with 7:21 on the clock. Tufts made it a 13-11 score at 4:42 and was able to gain possession late and run out the clock to seal the win.
