Red Dragons Close Conference Slate with 4-1 Loss at Oswego

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego women's ice hockey team netted three third-period goals and defeated Cortland, 4-1, in NEWHL action Saturday night. The Red Dragons dropped to 7-14-2 overall and closed out their conference slate at 2-13-1. The Lakers improved to 10-11-2 and 6-7-1.

Freshman Katie DeVoe (Mississauga, ON/Vaughan Flames) scored Cortland's goal with sophomore Carly Weigold (Mahopac/Millbrook Mustangs) collecting an assist. Sophomore goalie Rachael Farmer (Grand Island/Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles) made 35 saves.

Olivia Ellis led four different goal scorers for Oswego with one goal and two assists. Julieann White tallied one goal and one assist, Jean-marie Padden and Kate Randazzo each scored a goal and four others chipped in with an assist. Goalie Mariah Madrigal registered 14 saves.

DeVoe gave Cortland a 1-0 lead at 13:15 of the second period with her second goal of the season before Padden tied the game just over three and a half minutes later. Ellis netted the game winner at 8:39 of the third period, Randazzo scored on a delayed penalty with an extra skater at 10:37 and White finished the scoring with an empty-net goal at 18:39.

The Red Dragons close out their season with a game at King's College on Tuesday and a home contest versus William Smith on Saturday.
