Cortland Drops NEWHL Home Finale to Oswego, 4-0

CORTLAND, N.Y. – Sophomore Julieann White (Royal Oak, MI/Honeybaked) scored two goals, and senior goalie Mariah Madrigal (Brownstown, MI/Team Detroit) turned aside 23 shots as the Oswego women's ice hockey team defeated Cortland, 4-0, in NEWHL action Friday afternoon at Alumni Arena.

Sophomore goalie Rachael Farmer (Grand Island/Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles) made 20 saves through two period before giving way to freshman Chelsea Allain (Saratoga/Canterbury School), who stopped all four shots she faced in her first career action for the Red Dragons (7-13-2, 2-12-1 NEWHL).

Sophomore Kate Randazzo (Ancaster, ON/Burlington Barracudas) added a goal and an assist for the Lakers (9-11-2, 5-7-1 NEWHL), while freshman Jean-marie Padden (Cranford, NJ/New Jersey Rockets) also netted a goal. Freshman Philomena Teggart (Pickering, ON/Durham West Jr. Lightning) collected two assists, and five others each contributed one assist.

White opened the scoring with 1:10 remaining in the first period, one-timing a shot from the slot. Oswego added three goals in the second period. Padden scored on a loose puck in front at 2:43, White netted her second of the game on a partial breakaway at 6:35 and Randazzo tallied her fourth goal of the season while the teams were skating four aside at 16:19.
