Burchell opened the scoring 6:35 into the game when she carried into the circle and put a shot inside the left post from six yards out. Gibaldi made it a 2-0 score on a deflection right at the goal line off a pass from Barto.

Quinlan put Cortland ahead, 3-0, just 1:08 into the second half, lifting a shot from the right side just under the crossbar. McGuinness then converted a penalty stroke at 38:54 before Crocker completed the scoring at 58:19  when she stole the ball outside of the circle, carried in and tucked a shot inside the left post.

The Cougars had a solid chance to spoil the shutout bid with 1:26 remaining, but D'Amico made a kick save on a hard shot by sophomore Tori Carsley (Florence, NJ/Florence Township) from the left side after a Misericordia penalty corner.
