The teams were tied 18-18 in the third set before three Lycoming errors put the Red Dragons ahead 21-18. Cortland led 24-20 after an Amelio ace, but held on after the hosts closed to within 24-23. Cortland jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the 15-point fifth on a Nicole Van Pelt (Montgomery/Valley Central) kill, a Lycoming misplay, a Fernandes ace and a block by Moore and Van Pelt. The Red Dragons led 8-2 at the change-over and eventually took a 14-7 lead on a Moore kill.
