ONEONTA, N.Y. – Cortland won six individual events – two apiece by
Taylor Williams (Middletown/Minisink Valley),
Kelly Davey (Plattsburgh) and
Julia Torell (Camillus/CBA) – and one relay in a 158-136 women's swimming and diving dual-meet loss at Hartwick College.
Williams won both diving events with scores of 222.00 points on the 1-meter board and 230.00 points on the 3-meter board. Davey won both the 200-yard freestyle (2:00.30) and 100-yard freestyle (55.01), while Torell touched the wall first in both the 100-yard backstroke (1:02.85) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:00.39). The combination of
Lily Miller (Buffalo/Starpoint), Torell,
Marissa Kordal (Eden) and Davey won the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:47.71.
Davey also earned a second-place finish with her time of 25.17 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle.
Josie LaPolt (New Paltz) was runner-up in the 200-yard backstroke (2:22.45) and Kordal placed second in the 200-yard individual medley (2:19.46), losing by only 13 hundredths of a second.
Morgan Boone (Rome/Notre Dame) placed second behind Williams in both diving events (156.20 points on 1-meter, 139.60 points on 3-meter).
The foursome of LaPolt,
Alana Szewczyk (South Wales/Holland), Torell and Miller finished second in the 200-yard medley relay in 1:56.58.
Cortland will travel to New Paltz for a dual meet on Friday, Jan. 11 at 4 p.m.
