GENESEO, N.Y. – The Cortland men's and women's swimming and diving teams each dropped dual-meet decisions at Geneseo, the men falling 178-105 and the women dropping a 185-110 decision.
Three Red Dragon men won events during the meet.
Josh Chamak (New City/Clarkstown North) won the 200-yard backstroke (2:06.06),
Noah Farmer (New Hartford) captured the 200-yard breaststroke (2:20.60), and
Hunter Bernhardt (Groton) won the 500-yard freestyle (4:56.48).
Bernhardt was almost a double winner, but he lost by just three tenths of a second in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:07.84.
Dylan Cornelia (Deer Park) picked up two runner-up finishes with times of 1:03.37 in the 100-yard breaststroke and 2:22.37 in the 200-yard breaststroke.
On the women's side,
Leah Bernhardt (Groton) won the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:16.64) and was second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:28.38), while
Kelly Davey (Plattsburgh) won the 100-yard freestyle (54.41) and was runner-up in the 50-yard freestyle (25.07).
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of
Allie Gibson (Watkins Glen), Davey,
Anni Muehlbauer (Heidelberg, Germany/Helmholtz-Gymnasium) and Bernhardt had the second-fastest time in 3:44.76. Cortland picked up second-place finishes on both diving boards –
Ashley Zachgo (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) scored 245.35 points on 1-meter and
Taylor Williams (Slate Hill/Minisink Valley) scored 249.45 points on 3-meter.
The Red Dragons are idle for three weeks before hosting the Cortland Snowflurries Invitational Dec. 6-7 at Holsten Pool.
