CORTLAND, N.Y. – The nationally 13th-ranked Montclair St. field hockey team scored first and fourth quarter goals in defeating Cortland, 2-0, Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at the Stadium Complex. The Red Dragons dropped to 2-1, while the Red Hawks improved to 4-0.
Senior goalie 
Marisa D'Amico (Smithtown/Smithtown West) turned aside seven shots for Cortland. Senior goalie Nicole Andriani (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) registered four saves in posting the shutout for Montclair St.
Juniors Yael Yonah (Princeton, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro) and Elizabeth Cimilluca (Fairfield, NJ/West Essex) each tallied a goal for the Red Hawks with senior Kelly Watson (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) collecting an assist.
Yonah scored what proved to be the game-winning goal at the 13:28 mark of the game, deflecting a pass from Watson inside the right post. The Red Dragons created several chances to tie the game in the second and third quarters. Senior 
Hannah Burchell (Whitney Point) barely missed wide left with a long blast off a penalty corner just inside two minutes before the half.
Early in the third quarter, Andriani denied a point-blank bid by Cortland freshman 
Lily Fox (Northport), and junior 
Brynn Crocker (Harpursville) missed wide right on a rebound after a Cortland penalty corner with 3:25 remaining in the third quarter. Cimilluca scored an insurance goal 2:32 into the fourth quarter, blasting a five-yard shot inside the left post after she carried into the circle from the left side, and the Red Dragons could not generate a shot the remainder of the game as Montclair St. earned the 2-0 victory.
