CORTLAND, N.Y. – Eight different players scored goals as the Cortland women's soccer team improved to 5-4-1 overall and 3-1 in the SUNYAC with a 9-0 victory versus Buffalo St. Saturday afternoon at Holloway Field. The Bengals fell to 2-9 and 0-3 with the setback.
Sophomore
Madison Tortora (Spencerport) led Cortland with two goals, the first of her Red Dragon career. Graduate student

Junior
Lizzy Sabatelle (Poughkeepsie/Roy C. Ketcham) and sophomore
Simone Neivel (Syracuse/C.W. Baker) netted one goal apiece, while sophomores
Kayla Valerioti (Oakdale/Connetquot) and
Sophie Rusnak (Binghamton/Chenango Forks) each recorded the first goal of her career. Junior
Sabrina Rodrigues (West Hempstead) and sophomore
Ava Bongiorno (Smithtown/Smithtown East) chipped in with an assist.
Junior Lexi Raminetti (Northport) started in goal for Cortland and did not face a shot in the first half. Junior
Kiersten Becker (Guilderland) played the second half in goal for the Red Dragons, stopping the two shots she saw. Junior goalie Bella Vene (Deer Park) made seven saves for Buffalo St.
The Red Dragons built a 5-0 at the half as they received goals from five different players. O'Shea opened the scoring in the seventh minute, converting a penalty kick. Galluzzo made it a 2-0 game 65 seconds later with her team-high sixth goal of the season on a shot inside the left post after she carried the ball through several defenders. Sabatelle's fourth goal of the season in the 13th minute, a rebound after a corner kick, put Cortland ahead, 3-0. Valerioti notched her goal from the left side of the box in the 30th minute, and Neivel sent the Red Dragons into intermission with the 5-0 lead when she beat Vene to a pass from Rodrigues at the top of the box and deposited a shot in the open goal.
Cortland continued to build on its lead throughout the second half. In the 49th minute, Rusnak scored her goal after Vene failed to play a loose ball in the box. Tortora then tallied back-to-back goals to push the lead to 8-0. In the 51st minute, she converted a shot after a Bengal turnover in the box and sent a 20-yard shot just under the crossbar in the 81st minute. Lacoff completed the scoring with 1:26 to play with a left-footed shot from the left side that settled inside the right post.
The Bengals managed two shots on goal in the second half, but Becker made routine saves on a long free kick by senior A.J. Haase (Williamsville/Williamsville South) and on a soft bid by freshman Fatuma Rasulo (Buffalo).
