BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Cortland women's soccer team improved to 6-4-2 overall and 4-1-1 in the SUNYAC with a 3-0 victory at Brockport Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles fell to 5-6-2 and 2-2-1 with the setback.
Sophomore
Simone Neivel (Syracuse/C.W. Baker) and junior
Sabrina Rodrigues (West Hempstead) netted a goal, and senior
Jaden Galluzzo (Commack) and sophomore Kayle Valerioti (Oakdale/Connetquot) each collected an assist. Cortland also was credited with an "Own Goal."
For the second straight game, Cortland junior goalie Lexi Ramoneti (Northport) set a career high in saves, turning back 10 shots. Goalie Guliana Parisi registered five saves for the Golden Eagles.
Rodrigues gave Cortland a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute, scoring on a header off a Valerioti corner kick. Neivel tallied her first goal just 1:50 into the second half, and the Red Dragons finished the scoring when a Brockport defender knocked a cross from Neivel into her own goal in the 89th minute for the 3-0 final.
